Frustrated

It is so frustrating when the internet does not work. I feel like I am living in the stone age or something. I hate BSNL. I really do. It has been almost 2 weeks ( or maybe even three) since when the internet has become really slow. The sad part is that no one in BSNL knows why it is slow, or why the speed drops down so often. They must have made us call 25 people, and all of them have asked us to call someone else, or to log a complaint with someone else.

I watched two movies today. Quick gun murugan. A movie that no one should ever see. Ever. It is like college Mad-ads for 1.5 hours. Painful.

And to get over that movie, saw another one. The taking of pelham 123. Its a decent movie, felt good to watch something better than the other crappy movies.

Also, last week I saw Public Enemies. It is a nice movie. Really liked the setting, the actors, the way they spoke. It was all very believable. There was also this song that they played in the background which I am trying to remember... will have to google that out. It is played when he gets into the first bank.

Not any great movies now a days.

The shining

The hedges are supposed to move. The lions are supposed to come alive! The boy is supposed to see it, and so should his father! This can't be happening. They HAVE to show it come alive. I mean, thats like the best part! The part where Danny gets into the room 237... That's scary! I got scared while reading the book. Seriously! But, not scary in the movie. Sure is creepy, though. The lift, how the house talks to Jack? Not really there either.

Lots of things were supposed to happen - but they didnt. Did not make it any less better though.

The good stuff - Jack Nicholson, of course. The part where he is walking up the stairs, and he is shouting , I am not gonna hurt you, ha ha. I am just gonna cut you into little pieces.. or something like that. And the ending - with the maze and all that running around! Jack's psychotic smiles. Yikes.

Somehow I remember the hotel burning up in the end (of the book) - but that did not happen in the movie. In the movie, Jack is a ghost - not really sure if he was one the book as well.

Anywhere but home

Just came back from watching a movie - Anywhere but home. It was released with a new name here in India (Don't know why though!). It was released a long time back elsewhere as Four Christmases. It was a typical Hollywood movie. Sort of funny too.

One thing that is common in all Christmas movies: there has to be a guy who tells the kids that there is no Santa Claus. Oh, the horror! And the kids are so shocked and everything. Is this for real!?

I must say though, I like watching Christmas movies... even though they are all the same.

I finally saw Bourne Identity! It was an okay movie, I honestly don't know what the big deal is! Probably my expectations were too high. This always happens to me! Next movie is Bourne Supremacy. Lets see how that goes. I liked the car chase though. I usually like chases. In The Dark Knight, there is a chase, where Batman is following the Joker. That was so good! Especially the way how Batman's cloak is flying(?) behind him! Hmmm.. too bad The Dark Knight didn't get as many Oscars as was expected.

I am watching a lot of movies, right!?

Stuff

Yesterday I watched Memento. Had not watched it before, and unfortunately I could not enjoy it. And this, only because I watched Ghajini. I knew Ghajini was a remake of the Tamil movie, but I didn't know that the Tamil movie was also a remake! I only got to know about it later, which was too bad. Had I known, I would not have watched Ghajini. And to think that I actually liked the movie! How could I have liked that horror?!

I could not watch the whole movie (Memento). Only because I kept comparing it to the Hindi one, and it completely ruined it for me. I saw about 45 minutes of the beginning, and then saw the end. And then, I realised that end made no sense, so I watched the five minutes of the beginning again! (Yes, I do all this. )Apparently this is one movie where one has to watch it twice to understand it (is what my friend said).

Today I will watch Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy. Have read the book before, and when I watched it I got irritated cause the whole story was changed. But now, I do not remember all the details in the story, so I figured I might as well watch it. Will watch Memento also someday, when I forget that I watched Ghajini (the horror!).

Oh, and something completely unrelated: Sometimes I like how the day starts out being really bad, and then one incident completely makes it all better. This happened today; this morning I was moping around and now I am so happy! Damn cool!

Also, I thought I had lost my Pan card (don't remember if I blogged about it), but today I found it. When I was searching for something else. Time for me to arrange all the stuff in my room, so I get what I want - when I want it. I totally hate this!

Their world

Yesterday I was watching Amazing Race on TV, and they had come to Jaipur for the race. As the contestants were traveling in the car to some place near Jaipur, few of them started crying. Mostly because there are so many stray animals, and they were eating garbage, and such. They also saw a lot of kids near these garbage piles and were feeling emotional about the whole thing. That's what got me thinking - we Indians are so used to seeing poverty that it does not shock us anymore. Yeah, I feel sad that there is so much of poverty and that there is not much I can do about it. I don't like the fact that there are so many kids on the streets. But I don't think I would cry about all of that! I feel really bad, for a few minutes. That's it, I suppose. And then I force myself not to think about this, and try to forget it.

This is the main reason why Indians did not really like slumdog millionaire. We have seen slums, and we have seen such kids. And so for us, it is just a story. But for most of the Americans, this whole idea of a slum is horrendous, and when they see such things, it is time for them to thank god for everything that they have! It is sad, really. They have no clue of what is happening in the whole world. Their world begins and ends in America.

Movies and Books

I watched 2 movies today and finished 2 books yesterday! Yay!

The movies were

Hancock - which was good (not great). I simply HAVE to watch anything with Will Smith in it. Somehow I had expectations from the movie. I would have liked it much better if I had not heard anything about the movie. If you have not watched it, you should.

and Amir - A hindi flick. It was just ok. So many people told me it is amazing, but for me it was just ok. I must say though, it was a different hindi movie. I liked the ending.

The books!

One night at the call center. I dont know why I read it. After reading this book, I feel even I can write a book and publish it.

The redemption of Althalus. The fights were good. The story was good. The book was long. What else do I need?

I've got 2 more books to read, maybe I will start it now. I don't know how to spend my time... I dont want to watch another movie.

So that's my weekend. Also went and shopped today! Now the whole thought of going to office tomorrow is depressing me.

In Bruges (Its in Belgium!)

"Dude, what kind of a fucked up movie is this? In Bruges? What the fuck, man."

"You didn't like the movie? It was nice!"

"What part of the fucking movie did you like? I was waiting, and waiting for it to get better, but it just got fucking worse!!"

"haha, if I had to sit through it, so do you!"

"Ugh. I hated the movie, man. I did not understand anything! I don't know the point of the movie at all!"

"But didn't you like the dialogues? they were fucking awesome"

"All I heard in the movie was the word fuck, fucked, and such. Though I must admit, some parts were actually funny! Like the dialogue ---

'You from the States?'

'Yeah. But don't hold it against me. '

'I'll try not to... Just try not to say anything too loud or crass. '

--- hehehe"

"hahaha, yeah! And the part where Ray tells those fat guys not to go up the tower. The winding stairs and stuff.. hehe, the fat guy is actually tired of chasing him!! "

Whatever. I really didn't understand the movie. I cannot believe there are people who actually liked this movie! I think my friend liked the movie. And somehow didn't want to admit it. Hmm, I wonder why.

Colin Farell was amazing though. I actually felt sorry for him!

After watching the movie though, all I could think was "fuck it, why did I watch the fucking movie!" But in retrospect, it was not such a bad movie. Maybe I should watch it again to really get it.

PS - Bruges is a place in Belgium . A medieval place, historic. Very interesting, I thought.

Guru

The story of a boy who fails his exams. The boy who goes out of his village on his own for his first job. The boy who quits his job because he wants to make his own business. The story of how his father told him not to dream, but he did. The boy who would do anything (either by hook or by crook), so that he becomes successful. The story of the boy who wants his company to be the biggest in the country, and then the world. The boy is Guru Kant Desai.

And Guru is Abhishek Bachchan. Who is just brilliant in the movie! Who knew he could act that well!! His wife is Aishwarya Rai, who, in the movie, loves to dance. She dances when it rains, when she leaves her husband, when her husband comes to get her. She just dances. God knows why!

There is nothing good about the movie though, except Abhishek, and one song. There were some stupid songs that should not have been there in the first place. Suddenly a song would start, which completely bored me.

There is no point of telling the story here, if anyone wants to know the story, they might as well watch the movie. For me though, the ending was a disappointment. Perhaps, the director forgot what the movie was all about. Or maybe, he forgot the others in the movie, except for Abhishek. The ending makes no sense at all to me. The second half of the movie aimed at telling something, but it finally becomes something else. Or maybe, that was how I interpreted it. If it was a good movie, everything must have been clear in the end. But it was not.

Oh well, Abhishek was great. Need I say that again?

Basic Instinct 2

Since we had only 2 classes today, we decided to watch this movie after one class. We bunked one class for the movie. So how was the movie? I found it boring. After 5 minutes, I wanted to get up and go. But I didn’t, coz I spent 50 bucks on it. Damn what a waste. The thing with the movie is I could totally predict what the ending would be. And this, after just watching it for half an hour or so. But I must say, there were a few moments when I thought I was wrong about the ending (but I was right, really!). And the ending - I’m not even going to say anything about it. Arggghhh!!

Sharon stone was really irritating. I have not watched basic instinct 1, or any other movies of hers. And she really annoyed me. I found her to be very unnatural. I have no idea what the guy’s name is. But he looked totally dumb and totally out of place. Horrible acting by these two people. Damn, why did I watch this movie. Damn!

Funny thing was that my classmate sitting next to me didn’t get the story, or the names of the people in the movie, and I was sitting and explaining the story to her. Even after the movie got over, she was totally confused as what happened. The story was pretty ordinary. I didn’t know what’s not to get.

Well, after the movie got over, we got a treat in Pizza Hut by my classmate. That was the best part of the day. Pizza is just awesome. Nothing can beat that! Actually, if any of you have plans to watch this movie, go somewhere else and eat a pizza. Atleast you’ll fill your stomach and you’ll end up being happier. Hated the movie. Loved the pizza.

Nothing and Everything

I’ve been meaning to write earlier itself, but I just didn’t want to sit in front of the computer. College is starting tomorrow. It’s too early. I didn’t even have 15 days of holidays. C’mon!! Atleast give us 15 days damnit. The holidays were so less, that I didn’t even get time to get bored. Its was so less. No more Sigh. All good things have to come to an end.

So what I have been doing is just reading and hanging out in malls. I finally finished Bourne supremacy. Finally is the keyword here. It took so long! (almost 2 weeks!) I mean, it was not boring or anything, but it was not that interesting either. As in, I didn’t care what happened in the end. After finishing this book, I read a John Grisham’s book called “the testament”. Now this is called a good book. Finished it in a day. The book is about a guy who has 12 billion dollars. He makes a will, and then kills himself. The will gives all the money to a daughter, without any money to the rest of the 6 children. And this daughter does not want the money. Anyway, it was a nice read. I normally like books that move fast, and give nice descriptions about the characters.

Suddenly I’m starting to like music of Rang De Basanti. Don’t know how that happened. Normally I just can’t stand Hindi music. But this was somewhat different. I don’t like all the songs though. Songs that I like are khoon chala, roobaroo, khalbali and rang de basanti, the title track. While watching the movie, paathshala just sounded awesome. But when I listened to it at home, wasn’t that great.

I have not watched any new movie, except for Rang De Basanti. And I already watched it twice. And I am ready to watch it again. This is so freaky. I don’t know why I like it so much either. Some parts of it were not totally believable. But still it was a nice movie.

So this is the last day of my last ever holidays. Its back to studies from now.

Holidays/ Movies

While everyone is enjoying the festival season and their holidays, I will be spending this week studying. Why?? Because some stupid guy decided that starting the exams from 2nd Jan is an awesome idea. Yeah, you read that right. Its 2nd Jan. Its really irritating when I see all of my cousins having real fun during the holidays, and I'm stuck studying.

I can't even watch movies. Why is it that whenever I have exams, cable TV decides to show some movies that I've always wanted to watch? HBO is showing lord of the rings and Bourne Supremacy.Star movies is showing I, robot. And I can't watch any of those, because all of the good ones come just before the New Year's eve.

All of the Christmas movies are being aired now. I'm sitting at home, thinking if I should be studying, or watching movies. I have no idea why, but I just love the christmas movies. Just 2 or 3 days back, I saw the Santa Claus 2. Awesome one.

I also saw that monkey trouble and dunsten checks in was coming. But have too much to study so I can't sit and watch movies now. So didn't watch those movies.

I'm listening to Bon Jovi's song Have a nice day. I guess this day is going pretty well, except that I am a little irritated about the exams.

Finally got my cell phone back. I went to the principal's office at 10:30. He made me wait till 1:30!!! He had a meeting going on. Now, if he had a meeting at 10:30, why the heck did he tell me to go at 10:30? Crazy nut. He probably thinks that we students have nothing to do. Luckily I had predicted that I will have to wait for atleast an hour, so I had taken a text book along with me. So I didn't totally waste my time. I was sitting and studying.

Oh well, I should be studying now. Just a week for exams. Still have lots to study.
